Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist/Youth Transporter is responsible for the upkeep of all clubhouse facilities, grounds, and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency. This role involves compliance with relevant laws and regulations, as well as adherence to BGCWPA policies. The position also requires collaboration with Clubhouse Directors, Facility Engineers, and administrative staff to successfully complete maintenance tasks. Additionally, this role includes transporting youth from educational institutions to the clubhouse and for special events scheduled during evenings or weekends.

Key Responsibilities as a Facilities Maintenance Specialist

  • Possess a foundational understanding of general maintenance tasks including painting, landscaping, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.
  • Repair or replace any non-functional or faulty fixtures and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to all maintenance requests from clubhouses, addressing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues.
  • Conduct routine maintenance activities, including organizing maintenance areas and maintaining tools, machinery, and vehicles.
  • Manage snow removal and salting of sidewalks during icy conditions, as well as leaf removal at entrances.
  • Perform landscaping tasks as directed by the Facilities Engineer when subcontractors are unavailable.
  • Assist colleagues in fulfilling maintenance duties.
  • Report any accidents or incidents to the Facilities Engineer.
  • Proactively maintain a safe environment.
  • Incorporate safety and risk management practices into daily operations.
  • Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Travel between clubhouses as needed.
  • Maintain required clearances and certifications.

Key Responsibilities as a Youth Transporter

  • Safely transport children and other passengers to and from educational institutions.
  • Adhere to all traffic regulations.
  • Keep the transportation vehicle clean and in good working condition.
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers.
  • Verify permissions for children boarding the vehicle.
  • Assist children with boarding and alighting as necessary.
  • Manage student behavior to maintain a safe environment.
  • Conduct pre- and post-route inspections of the vehicle.
  • Participate in required safety meetings.

Qualifications

  • Required clearances: Act 33, Act 34, Act 151, and NSOR letter.
  • Mandated Reporter Certification within 45 days of hire.
  • Complete CPR and Pediatric First Aid training within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Preferred experience: minimum of 2 years in building maintenance.
  • Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • Clean driving record with no recent accidents or traffic violations.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, balancing, and enduring various environmental conditions.

Certifications and Clearances

CPR, Pediatric First Aid, Child Abuse, Criminal History, FBI clearance, NSOR certificate, PA Disclosure, and Mandated Reporter certification are required upon hire or must be obtained within six months.

All candidates must submit a PA Staff Health Assessment and TB Test prior to starting employment.
