As a Maintenance Technician, you will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, taking charge of various maintenance tasks across the facility. This role is hourly and non-exempt, playing a pivotal part in preparing young people for their future by exemplifying and guiding them in the eight Career Success Standards: workplace relations and ethics, information management, communications, multicultural awareness, personal growth and development, career and personal planning, interpersonal skills, and independent living.
Key Responsibilities- Execute janitorial, building maintenance, and groundskeeping duties as assigned.
- Conduct minor construction tasks as necessary.
- Maintain outdoor areas by mowing lawns and clearing debris.
- Transport students to various training sites and activities.
- Ensure tools and equipment are well-maintained and stored properly.
- Facilitate the movement of equipment and supplies within the facility.
- Perform basic electrical tasks, such as changing light bulbs and replacing cords.
- Comply with all relevant policies and procedures.
- Uphold cleanliness and safety standards in accordance with DOL regulations.
- Promote a safe working environment with a focus on accident prevention.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions.
- Demonstrate and communicate essential employability skills, including personal accountability and technology proficiency.
- Ensure the safety and accountability of staff, students, and facility assets.
- Foster a respectful and inclusive workplace.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
- Skilled in a trade, with knowledge of at least one additional trade.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse population.
- Ability to operate various household appliances and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional sitting, squatting, kneeling, pushing, or pulling.
- Ability to see, hear, and communicate clearly.
- Work approximately 65% outdoors and 35% indoors.
- Ability to tolerate moderate noise levels.
- Adapt to varying temperatures throughout the year.
