Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) initiative aims to deliver essential pre-employment support to students within the educational framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Assist the Pre-ETS Instructor in creating a secure and engaging educational atmosphere.
  • Support the organization and preparation of daily instructional activities and classroom setup.
  • Develop teaching materials and resources for classroom use.
  • Provide individual or group assistance to students to reinforce learning objectives.
  • Facilitate student recruitment within educational institutions and guide enrollment into program services.
  • Document necessary information to monitor student progress.
  • Foster positive relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, vocational rehabilitation services, students, and families.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant standards and maintain accurate records to demonstrate student advancement through the program and facilitate service billing.
  • Participate in planning meetings as required.
  • Serve as a positive role model consistently.
  • Engage in program assessment activities.
  • Gather, organize, and evaluate information about individuals through various methods to assess interests and aptitudes for pre-vocational training.
  • Collaborate with sponsoring organizations to enhance the vocational potential of each individual receiving services.
  • Comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines from governing bodies, ensuring standards for record-keeping, vocational program design, and implementation are met.
  • Represent the transition initiative to the community as necessary.
  • Identify and seek accommodations or assistive technologies to optimize vocational success.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION MAY INCLUDE: Facility-based vocational services for individuals with developmental disabilities, pre-vocational/enrichment services, or school-to-work transition.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Advocate for individuals receiving services.
  • Provide limited transportation and assist students in arranging independent transportation.
  • Engage actively in local organizations to promote the employment of individuals with disabilities.
  • Maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR, and behavior intervention techniques as required.
  • Assist individuals with disabilities, including emergency restraint if certified.
  • Seek out low-cost educational resources to stay updated with industry practices.
  • Substitute for other program staff as needed.
  • Participate in training sessions as assigned and assist in onboarding new staff.
  • Regular attendance is expected during standard working hours.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma required; Associate's degree preferred, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and youth.
  • Preferred experience in an educational setting.
  • Proficient in preparing instructional materials and lesson plans.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities demonstrated through previous employment.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels.
  • Strong writing skills and command of grammar.
  • Understanding of basic behavior modification and task-training techniques.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and the rights of individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and organize work independently.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, capable of prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Willingness to obtain certification in behavior intervention techniques.
  • Fluency in English to facilitate communication with individuals with disabilities.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Computer Skills: Proficient in computer usage, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess U.S. work authorization.
