Position Overview

Hope For Youth is seeking a dedicated Youth Peer Advocate to be an integral part of our Youth Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team.

As a Youth Peer Advocate, your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Adhering to the policies and procedures as outlined in the program's practice guide and employee manual.
  2. Complying with state regulations and the applicable code of conduct.
  3. Collaborating within an interdisciplinary team to support youth in enhancing their overall functioning and achieving their goals.
  4. Delivering support services through a variety of formal and informal methods to the youth.
  5. Facilitating the engagement and active participation of youth in the treatment planning process, as well as the ongoing implementation and reinforcement of essential skills.
  6. Encouraging youth to engage in services that promote the development of skills and strategies necessary for achieving their personal life goals, enhancing self-advocacy, and supporting their transition into adulthood.
  7. Participating in assigned training and professional development opportunities.
  8. Attending daily team and family meetings as required.
  9. Implementing agency-identified Evidence-Based Interventions tailored to meet the needs of clients.
  10. Providing transportation for clients to their service locations when necessary.
  11. Completing other necessary tasks to fulfill the needs and requirements of clients, the program, and regulatory obligations.

Time Allocation:

60% of your time will be spent on direct client therapeutic contact, including transportation.

20% will be dedicated to case documentation, reports, and case-related meetings.

20% will involve staff/team meetings, supervision, and training.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Youth Peer Advocate Credential with at least one year of experience, or the ability and willingness to apply for the credential.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid NYS driver's license in good standing is necessary.
  • Physical capabilities include reading/writing reports, prolonged periods of walking/standing/sitting, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, and repetitive wrist/finger movements.
