Job Title: Associate General Counsel (Commercial)

Join Impulse Space as an Associate General Counsel (Commercial) and play a vital role in our Legal team. As a key member, you will be responsible for identifying and managing risks across the organization to ensure the Company is adequately protected through its growth stages.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate and Oversee Commercial Contracts: Draft, negotiate, and handle all inbound and outbound commercial agreements, including master subscription agreements, reseller/partner agreements, and other types of commercial and privacy agreements with a broad range of customers.
  • Proactive Legal Support: Serve as a proactive, responsive, trusted, and results-oriented advisor who is adept at anticipating customer and stakeholder needs.
  • Contract Life Cycle Management: Provide overall management and oversight of legal support to transactions through contract life cycle management, including establishing policies and procedures to facilitate growth and scale.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Keep informed on applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidance that impact our Company's core product and lead overall compliance program, including partnering with finance, sales, and information technology teams to ensure agreements are consistent with internal Impulse policies, processes, product capabilities, and compliance requirements.
  • Strategic Advice: Build critical relationships with key stakeholders to effectively provide practical legal and strategic advice to assist the business in meeting its objectives.
  • Legal and Compliance Risk Mitigation: Support business teams in identifying and mitigating legal and compliance risks.
  • Intellectual Property Guardrails: Assist in the design and implementation of appropriate IP guardrails to facilitate a responsible and protected entry into the market.
Requirements:
  • J.D. and California Bar Membership: J.D. from an accredited legal program and member of the California bar in good standing.
  • Commercial Transactions Experience: 8+ years of total experience supporting commercial transactions.
  • In-House Experience: 2+ years of in-house experience.
  • Track Record: Track record and demonstrated experience of effectively navigating opportunities, headwinds, and strategic shifts that are common in an early-stage business.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Compliance Program Experience: Experience building a Compliance program in a start-up or early-stage company environment.
  • Aerospace and Automotive Industry Experience: Experience working in or with the aerospace and/or the automotive industry.
  • Pragmatic Business Mindset: Pragmatic, business mindset.

Compensation and Benefits: Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
