About the Role:

This is a newly created role that sits on a team of 8 people in the Office of General Counsel division. As Head of Litigation, you will oversee and manage litigation, arbitration, and mediation activity across Pacific Life, with a particular focus on:

  • Effectively managing the enterprise's litigation portfolio
  • Managing internal litigation processes from pre-trial through appellate phases
  • Selecting and managing outside counsel
  • Building and maintaining effective industry relationships
  • Managing litigation budgets
  • Advising business and enterprise leaders on complex legal issues, with a view toward mitigating litigation risks
About You:

We are looking for a talented and experienced lawyer with a strong background in litigation management. You will have a minimum of 15 years of legal experience, with significant in-house experience managing litigation portfolios for a life insurance and annuity carrier (or comparable financial services experience). You will also have a Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degrees, and be a member in good standing of the California State Bar (or other U.S. jurisdiction).

What We Offer:

Pacific Life Insurance Company offers a competitive salary range of $285,000 - $350,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and wellbeing reimbursement account. You will also have access to paid time off, holiday schedules, and financial planning time off, as well as paid parental leave and an adoption assistance program.
