Job Overview

The Senior Systems Engineer within the Enterprise Technical Services Team plays a crucial role in managing the IT infrastructure architecture for The Christ Hospital, focusing on data centers, servers, and server virtualization. This position involves the development, implementation, and oversight of policies and procedures related to all Compute services. The individual will be tasked with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of these critical resources.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct technical analysis, design, and support for the virtual environment essential for daily operations, system upgrades, and new releases.

- Address basic troubleshooting of infrastructure and application issues escalated from technical support and engineering teams, as well as those reported by application analysts.

- Collaborate with analysts and IT engineers to research, develop, document, test, and deploy new technologies, service updates, and upgrades for enterprise-wide use.

- Maintain comprehensive documentation on system configurations and technical components.

- Coordinate with technology and application teams to ensure that changes and issues related to systems infrastructure are effectively communicated across the organization.

- Contribute to the development of processes and procedures for supporting enterprise applications across regions.

- Engage in enterprise change management processes to ensure smooth transitions and updates.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

- Specialized knowledge or skills required for the position include:

  • Expertise and/or certification in server operating systems (MS Windows)
  • Expertise and/or certification in virtualization technologies (VMWare)
  • Proficiency in topologies and implementations (TCP/IP, DNS)
  • Familiarity with Windows-based print queues, file shares, and user/group (Active Directory) administration
  • Expertise in infrastructure monitoring tools
  • Strong foundation in the design, analysis, and evaluation of IT systems
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead complex interdisciplinary projects
  • Understanding of the impact of infrastructure on organizational operations and interdependencies of complex systems
  • Ability to articulate and communicate solutions, impacts, and risks to management effectively.

Additional Requirements:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Effective management of priorities and tasks

Licenses & Certifications:

- Microsoft and VMware Industry Certifications such as server MCP/MCSE, CCA, VCP, or equivalent are required.
