Job Summary

The Telecommunications Specialist I is a strategic position providing high-level analytical skills and expertise in Telecomm Networks. This role involves tactical execution of Telecom operations, expert-level analytical skills, and extensive knowledge of telecomm operations, contract management, and traffic analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex telecomm analysis of business needs and translate them into technical works with Telecomm providers to create service orders.
  • Provide insight into ordering products and services in a timely manner consistent with meeting defined intervals.
  • Handle all first bill reviews to ensure billing is accurate, including review for proper tax status, appropriate fees and surcharges, proper quantity of USOCs, and contract rates.
  • Ensure proper AP codes for DI entries completed through the system for proper cost allocation.
  • Provide checks and balances on monthly bills and ensure accurate billing and coding, as well as timely payment with zero late payment fees.
  • Work with Telecomm providers for incident and problem resolution to telecomm-related events.
  • Keep accurate contact information for vendor repair bureaus and escalation procedures.
  • Responsible for accurate lists of services complete with circuit IDs, CLLI code information, location information, and other pertinent information.
  • Audit customer service records annually to ensure billing is correct for all services in records.
  • Conduct physical inventories using audited customer service records and bills to ensure that services being billed for are actually in use by CHRISTUS Health facilities.
  • Document applications and LCON information.
  • Conduct LDUAs to scrutinize long-distance calls for patterns that might suggest toll fraud, etc., and refer to appropriate team members for handling.
  • Analyze traffic studies to request regular traffic studies for dial-tone services, analyze peg count, usage for P.01 GOS, overflows, and trunks in maintenance.
  • Keep a repository of network schematics and update them as directed by team members.
  • Manage contract information, including type of service, term, start date, stop date, location(s), etc.
  • Devise a method of notifying team members of expiration dates at intervals set by team members based on type of service.
  • Provide reports of sites, inventory, contract, vendors, cost allocations per AP code and per location code, both on demand and scheduled.
  • Assist team members with administrative reports, such as time reports, expense reports, payroll reports, etc.
  • Use questions uncovered during audits and physical inventories to assist in ensuring that services installed and billed for are the best services to be used for installed applications.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge and current certification in data/voice technologies, including but not limited to vendor certifications.
