Position Overview:

The Engineering Manager for Manufacturing Operations will provide essential technical leadership and guidance to the manufacturing engineering and product development teams. This role is pivotal in achieving both long-term strategic goals and immediate performance targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate and impart engineering principles, technical problem-solving methodologies, and effective reporting practices.
  • Formulate and articulate long-term strategic objectives, translating them into actionable performance goals and plans.
  • Oversee the development of engineering team members while actively contributing to technical projects.
  • Ensure the engineering team meets its objectives while managing departmental resources and budgets effectively.
  • Establish and uphold procedures, workmanship standards, and reporting formats for technical tasks.
  • Lead initiatives to identify and eliminate non-value-added activities, enhancing manufacturing efficiency.
  • Foster a data-driven decision-making culture, utilizing principles of 5S, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Support the automation of processes to optimize costs and maintain consistency in meeting demand.
  • Supervise the maintenance and repair of equipment, ensuring adherence to a preventive maintenance system.
  • Analyze work center utilization and implement improvements through job sequencing and work assignments.
  • Develop project plans focused on quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
  • Strategize on current manufacturing processes and future advancements.
  • Promote a workplace committed to safety, health, and environmental compliance, encouraging employee engagement in continuous improvement.
  • Assess team capabilities through performance reviews, identifying training needs and selecting suitable training programs.
  • Stay informed on technical advancements that may impact processes or products.
  • Engage in technical problem-solving with customers and suppliers as needed.
  • Enhance engineering team skills through recommendations for training and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of engineering objectives with organizational needs.
  • Provide leadership in cost analysis related to processes, products, and equipment.
  • Oversee safety, quality, and productivity programs, recommending changes as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in a collaborative work environment, with a focus on mentoring others.
  • Proficient in directing and guiding teams through daily tasks and special projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and experimental design.
  • Expertise in glass fabrication and electronic performance of functional films.
  • Ability to develop and maintain systems related to manufacturing operations.
