We are looking for a committed Ophthalmic Support Specialist I Floater to deliver technical ophthalmic support, patient assistance, and administrative services to our healthcare facilities.

The specialist will collaborate with fellow technicians and healthcare providers to ensure exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct imaging and diagnostic assessments, including OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, and other specialized evaluations.

2. Assist in the preparation and execution of minor ophthalmic procedures, ensuring all necessary tools and materials are ready.

3. Perform preliminary eye assessments and accurately record patient medical histories.

4. Educate patients regarding eye care, treatment options, and post-procedure guidelines.

5. Maintain and sterilize ophthalmic instruments and equipment.

6. Support the process of obtaining prior authorizations.

7. Aid in inventory management, including ordering and restocking supplies.

Compensation:
$ Hourly


This role will function as a floater across multiple locations and will be assigned to various sites as necessary to provide patient care services.

Travel flexibility is required.

Qualifications:

Essential:


Familiarity with ophthalmic medical terminology, basic ocular anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and common eye diseases.

Knowledge of basic ophthalmic treatments, medical emergencies, and various clinical protocols.


Proficiency in the operation and upkeep of ophthalmic equipment, patient testing devices, and sterilization techniques.

Ability to adapt to multi-specialty services.

Flexibility to accommodate requests from healthcare providers and staff.


Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage time-sensitive responsibilities effectively.

Excellent interpersonal abilities to interact positively while fostering cooperative relationships with healthcare providers, patients, and colleagues.

Capacity to perform under pressure in a busy clinical environment and contribute as a team member.

Ability to work independently with initiative and minimal supervision when necessary.

Proficient typing skills with speed and accuracy.

Ability to communicate information clearly, edit, and proofread to ensure accurate and grammatically correct correspondence.

Detail-oriented and responsible.

Exhibit a pleasant, caring, and compassionate demeanor at all times.


Maintain any required certifications for patient care, including research certifications and other ophthalmic-related training.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, equipment, devices, or software.

Desirable:


Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or a minimum of 2+ years of experience in an ophthalmic setting with patients and imaging devices (COA certification completion required within one year of hire).



Experience with fluorescein angiography, UBM, Konan, keratometry, and specialty imaging.

Multilingual capabilities (Mandarin + Cantonese).

Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR, EMR, Epic).
