Career Overview

The County of Orange is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coastal Resource Manager to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to work on a variety of projects related to coastal resiliency, land use, and environmental planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement enhanced coastal resiliency activities, including coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and lead projects related to coastal entitlements, land use review, and permitting processes.
  • Collaborate with regional and County-wide collaborative bodies to address coastal challenges and promote resiliency.
  • Provide leadership and management to the Coastal Resiliency Program, including strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Represent the County in engagements with internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, agency staff, and the general public.
Requirements
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in project management and team leadership.
  • Knowledge of coastal entitlements, land use review, and permitting processes, including experience working with the California Coastal Commission and Local Coastal Programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, agency staff, and the general public.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively, with experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience developing or implementing collaborative bodies, such as coalitions or collaboratives.
  • Knowledge of real estate instruments, including leases and licenses.
  • Ability to lead internal and external meetings, including public meetings subject to the Brown Act.
  • Experience working with or supporting projects within the Coastal Zone, including beach nourishment, public beach access, and recreational coastal amenities.
