This position reports to

Product Engineering & Reliability Manager

Your role and responsibilities

As the Senior Product Compliance Engineer, you will ensure compliance with North American regulations for ABB products manufactured in our facilities. This role offers a unique opportunity to address global compliance challenges across our international factories. The work model for this position is hybrid. You will primarily be responsible for:
• Serving as the primary contact for UL compliance issues, establishing the US Drive Products division as a Center of Expertise for UL standards, and coordinating the status of UL certifications for ABB products.
• Providing UL knowledge support to Product Engineering and R&D teams across various factory locations.
• Leading local compliance initiatives, including US EPA TSCA (PFAS) reporting, and maintaining local regulatory files.
• Influencing business units to integrate regulatory and certification requirements into product designs for both existing and new products. Proactively report on upcoming regulatory changes to ensure compliance. Represent ABB in regulatory standards committees and aim for voting membership.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline, with over 10 years of experience in design, product, or test engineering with a compliance focus.
  • Preferred experience with variable speed drives, power conversion equipment, and other industrial controls such as circuit breakers and disconnects.
  • Ability to comprehend, articulate, and document regulatory and standards requirements.
  • Familiarity with standards including ISO17025, UL50/50E, UL508, UL508A, UL1741, UL60335, UL1449, CSA 22.2 No. 274, and IEC.
  • Proficient in making informed recommendations, analyzing data, and presenting findings to local and global teams.
  • Strong initiative to complete projects independently and effectively.
  • Candidates must possess valid work authorization for employment with ABB in the US.
