Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Benefits and Billing Coordinator to join our team at Rockbridge Area Health Center.

This role is pivotal in maximizing reimbursements for patient services by performing complex clerical and accounting functions for patient billing. The successful candidate will review claims, follow up on submitted claims, and resubmit claims after correcting inaccuracies.

The Coordinator will also assist patients with billing inquiries, payment plan options, and may refer patients to support services for sliding fee discounts or insurance eligibility. Additionally, the Coordinator will verify patient financial responsibilities for each visit, including co-pays and deductibles.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or the equivalent required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in billing procedures in a healthcare facility is preferred.
  • Front and back-office healthcare experience, preferably in primary care.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certificate preferred.
