Position Overview

Senior Associate, Hedge Fund or Private Equity Fund Accounting

Locations: Various locations including New York, NY | Union, NJ | Harrison, NY | Boston, MA | Hybrid Work Options

Team Introduction:

As a Senior Associate in Fund Accounting, you will be responsible for preparing and processing transactions and financial reports, while applying sound judgment in the interpretation of accounting principles across various complex transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver precise and timely work products within established timelines.
  • Prepare comprehensive work paper files ensuring accuracy and completeness, including capital activity, income and expense accruals, and investment activity.
  • Update distribution waterfall (carried interest) models as necessary.
  • Calculate management fees and prepare supporting schedules.
  • Review all transaction documentation and supporting files, gaining an understanding of investment transaction features, accruals, etc.
  • Conduct reconciliations, process journal entries, and manage cash balances.
  • Support the year-end audit process in collaboration with the team, clients, and auditors.
  • Engage actively with clients and counterparties, including legal counsels, auditors, and tax advisors to meet critical deadlines.
  • Perform analytical reviews of daily and monthly results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field; CPA and/or MBA is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Accounting; experience in alternative investments, Private Equity/Real Assets, or Hedge Funds is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and comprehensive accounting concepts; knowledge of investment partnerships is a plus.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing general ledgers, work papers, and financial statements.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks independently.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills required.
  • Audit experience is an asset.
