Job Overview

Position: Social Work Intern
Compensation: Unpaid Volunteer Position

Role Summary:

The Social Work Intern engages with families facing challenges, providing essential support to enhance their emotional, physical, and financial well-being. This role is crucial in fostering a harmonious environment for children, aiding their success in both educational and personal spheres.

Evaluation Process:

The intern's progress will be assessed by the Senior Social Worker, alongside other Community Partnership personnel directly involved in the intern's activities.

Reporting Structure:

The Social Work Intern will report to a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist families in identifying available resources tailored to their specific needs.
  • Conduct home visits to connect families with necessary services.
  • Recognize and leverage community, business, and civic resources to enhance support for families.
  • Document home visits, referrals, services rendered, and client outcomes on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborate effectively to address the needs of students.
  • Design and facilitate skill-building groups for identified clients in various settings.
  • Implement mentoring initiatives for designated clients.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of interactions and outcomes for both group and individual clients.
  • Participate in outreach programs aimed at benefiting clients and their families.
  • Attend staff meetings, operational discussions, and community gatherings as necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s level social work program.
  • Proficient in computer and internet usage.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel within the community.
  • Strong analytical skills, including critical thinking and data assessment.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse family dynamics.
