TAX Intern - Credits, Incentives & Methods (CIM) - Tangible Property Services (TPS)

Position Overview

At RSM, interns collaborate with a diverse range of companies across various sectors. They cultivate strong relationships with clients by gaining insights into their operations and challenges.

Interns engage in multiple team projects throughout their internship, contributing to various aspects of each assignment.

As an intern in our Credits, Incentives, and Methods (CIM) division, primarily collaborating with the Tangible Property Services (TPS) team, your responsibilities will revolve around two main principles: your technical proficiency and providing exceptional client service:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough cost analyses of construction projects and acquired assets to categorize items for accurate tax depreciation (cost segregation studies).
  • Evaluate capital maintenance, repair, and improvement costs for appropriate tax accounting treatment.
  • Develop and manage fixed asset tax depreciation systems utilizing various software platforms.
  • Engage in and execute multiple projects concurrently, which involve technical discussions with clients, research, data collection, calculations, analysis, and report preparation.
  • Occasionally travel to client locations to meet with clients and inspect their facilities.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of clients' operations and become a subject matter expert in the field.
Basic Qualifications:

  • Completion of at least 90 credits towards a B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited institution with a focus on Accounting, Civil Engineering, or Architecture.
  • Willingness to travel to designated client sites is essential. Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progressing towards the successful completion of the CPA examination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Aptitude for multitasking in a dynamic environment.

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc.

As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range:
$32 - $39 per hour
