General Overview
The Police Department is in search of a committed and professional Office Support Specialist to serve as the initial point of contact for community members. As an integral part of our team, you will deliver crucial information to the public and assist Police Officers in their daily responsibilities. This role necessitates exceptional communication abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong dedication to public service.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Compensation: $22.64 per hour

Key Responsibilities
- Responds to inquiries in person and via phone, determining the necessary information to provide or the appropriate course of action.
- Supplies Officers with requested data.
- Conducts records checks utilizing the T.I.M.E. system.
- Inputs various reports and performs warrant entries and cancellations.
- Ensures data entry complies with departmental policies, state statutes, and federal regulations.
- Compiles data and independently prepares various reports, researching information from multiple sources.
- Handles moderately complex telephone inquiries, addressing complaints and clarifying departmental procedures to the public.
- Maintains receipt books and executes necessary deposits.
- Conducts follow-up activities as required.
- Reviews data for accuracy and adherence to established regulations.
- Upholds the confidentiality of departmental practices.
- Prepares materials for mailing.
- Manages general record keeping and filing tasks.
- Assists other clerical personnel with immediate assignments of moderate complexity.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years of full-time office experience, including data entry.
- Completion of post-secondary courses in Administrative Professional or a related field is preferred.
- Must be able to obtain Wisconsin Department of Justice T.I.M.E. System Operator certification.
- Extensive knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
- Proficient in business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Solid understanding of filing systems.
- Competent in performing basic mathematical calculations and simple bookkeeping tasks.
- Ability to manage routine assignments independently and utilize necessary software.
- Capable of following both oral and written instructions.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
- Willingness to work the required hours of the position.
Ability to perform the following activities:
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Frequent standing and sitting.
- Concentration on projects for extended periods.
- Reaching, stooping, and lifting as necessary.
