As the Head Chef, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your culinary skills and creativity by preparing exquisite dishes that will impress our patrons. Collaborating closely with the General Manager and the VP of Culinary, you will design and implement menus that embody our commitment to quality and emphasize the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You will lead a passionate and skilled culinary team.

Founded in 1987, Piatti offers a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Italian trattoria, serving authentic Italian cuisine. Our signature house-made pasta is crafted by hand daily, ensuring a unique dining experience. Piatti combines a welcoming atmosphere with exceptional service and a gourmet takeaway option through Piatti Provisions, our retail and pasta shop.
Key Responsibilities
The Head Chef oversees all kitchen operations, including both immediate and long-term planning, menu creation, pricing strategies, equipment management, cost control, and profitability. You will maintain comprehensive oversight of daily kitchen activities and ensure that the kitchen operates smoothly at all times, earning the respect of your culinary team. You will directly supervise kitchen personnel, focusing on recruitment, motivation, coaching, and performance evaluation. Additionally, you will uphold food safety, sanitation, and safety standards within the kitchen environment.

To thrive in the Head Chef position, several essential skills are required. Strong communication abilities are crucial, along with the capacity to remain composed under pressure and make swift, sound decisions in a bustling kitchen. Excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgment are necessary to address any challenges that may arise during service. Attention to detail is vital to ensure that all dishes meet our high-quality standards.
Collaboration with suppliers and front-of-house staff is essential, as is the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. As the Head Chef, you will work within a cooperative team environment, making teamwork and support for your colleagues paramount. Flexibility, adaptability, and a readiness to assist others are qualities we highly value.
Basic computer proficiency is required for navigating recipe management systems, ordering supplies, and completing administrative duties. Additionally, the ability to perform basic math calculations is important for ingredient portioning and inventory management.
