Key Responsibilities:
  • The Healthcare Informatics Specialist is expected to embody the organization's vision, mission, and core values.
  • This role involves supporting the setup, configuration, conversion, implementation, and continuous use of various clinical systems.
  • Accountable for the management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and training of staff on Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and related departmental systems.
  • Must possess advanced skills in problem-solving, evaluation, and solution development.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the Laboratory Information System to ensure ongoing functionality and support for departmental needs.
  • Collaborates with the Information Systems team on projects involving interfaces to the main hospital system, including equipment, reference labs, middleware, and point-of-care systems.
  • Facilitates data collection and assists in the creation of database reports aimed at improving lab system processes.
  • Under appropriate guidance, analyzes programs and tests procedures, ensuring compliance with hospital, federal, and state regulations.
  • Involves in validating and testing new builds and information.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to develop, document, and monitor process improvement metrics, particularly those driven by standardized workflows.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively support staff and foster collaborative relationships across departments.
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory, pathology, and molecular regulatory standards, procedures, and relevant equipment.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Biology, or a related field.

Experience: Preferred experience with Cerner; Epic experience is advantageous but not mandatory. Familiarity with Anatomic, Clinical, and Molecular Pathology concepts, clinical terminology, procedures, and workflows is highly desirable. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in LIS solutions and clinical settings is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) is expected.

Certification: Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP preferred) and current state licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
