Job Description

Job Summary:

The Children's Museum Houston is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our Maker Education team as a Maker Education Program Coordinator. As a key member of our team, you will engage children and families in creative projects that develop problem-solving skills and spark interest in science, technology, engineering, math, and the arts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate workshops in the Chevron Maker Annex, promoting hands-on learning and creativity.
  • Assist in co-creating maker activities that align with the goals of the Children's Museum Houston, fostering a love for learning and exploration.
  • Facilitate interactive making explorations for youth and families, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Perform necessary maintenance, setup, and tear down for each program, ensuring a seamless experience for visitors.
  • Represent the Maker Education Initiative and the Children's Museum Houston in a positive manner, embodying our values of creativity, curiosity, and community.
  • Assist in evaluation efforts, helping us to refine and improve our programs.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working in educational settings, with a passion for creativity and DIY projects.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, adults, and staff.
  • A level of comfort presenting in front of audiences of children and families.
  • A passion for educating the public and promoting STEM education.

Working Conditions:

  • Inside gallery conditions for the majority of work time.
  • Some weekends.
