Medical Support Specialist

About the Role:
As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of plasma donations. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review laboratory test results. You will work closely with the Center Manager and Center Physician to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
• Conduct medical history interviews and physical examinations to assess donor suitability.
• Review laboratory test results, including Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE), to ensure donor safety.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for medical emergencies.
• Collaborate with the Center Physician and Medical Affairs to address medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Current licensure or certification as an EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
