Job Summary

The City of Wasilla is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer I, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order within the city limits, responding to emergency calls, and providing excellent customer service to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol city limits to identify public safety hazards and prevent the commission of crimes
  • Respond to emergency calls, render aid, and assist victims and the public
  • Investigate traffic accidents and reported violations of the law
  • Locate and interview witnesses, collect evidence, and write detailed incident reports
  • Enforce federal, state, and local laws in a fair and impartial manner
  • Interpret and uphold City ordinances
  • Assist other public safety agencies as needed
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to type at a net speed of 35 words per minute
  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of hire
  • Possess demonstrated prior work history in positions requiring reliability, honesty, and the ability to work with others
  • Able to obtain an Alaska Police Standards Council Basic Police Officer I Certificate within the first year of employment
  • Must be a United States or naturalized citizen and pass the APSIN background clearance
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
