Job Description

Tehachapi Cement LLC is seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Manager to join our team in Tehachapi, CA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and Manage the quality control department, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality results.
  • Develop and Implement laboratory strategies to align with plant and company goals, objectives, and product quality standards.
  • Provide Technical Expertise as the plant's cement quality expert, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Train and Support laboratory personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Maintain and Optimize laboratory equipment, including XRF and cross-belt analyzers, to ensure accurate and precise analysis of materials.
  • Monitor Quality throughout the production process, from quarry to shipping, using statistical methods to track quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with production management to address concerns and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Ensure Compliance with all applicable regulations, including CalTrans, NSF, ASTM, CSA, and AASHTO requirements and specifications.
  • Interpret Test Results, isolate problems, and resolve them in a timely and effective manner.
  • Prepare and Authorize letters of certification and mill test reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Serve as Liaison with other departments to adjust internal set points for process operations to maximize product quality.
  • Ensure Compliance Requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures, including implementation of Group guidelines, training, and monitoring compliance.
  • Evaluate Raw Materials for potential use in cement manufacturing processes.
  • Manage Automated Laboratory systems, including Historian/LDMS/AMLA administration.
  • Manage Compliance with DOT certifications.
  • Manage CIP Efforts in the plant.
  • Perform Ball Mill and Separator Inspections.
  • Design and Optimize Ball Mill Charge.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or relevant technical discipline.
  • At Least 5 Years of experience in the cement industry.
  • Thorough Understanding of cement chemistry, X-ray, advanced chemical, physical, and microscopic analytical and testing procedures, XRF, Spectrophotometry, wet chemical methods, physical testing, and clinker/cement microscopy.
  • In-Depth Knowledge of relevant ASTM specifications and procedures.
  • Excellent Analytical Skills and detail orientation.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Organizational Skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong Excel Abilities.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Quality Control Supervision
  • SAP
  • Inventory Management Systems
  • Familiarity with Computer Programming Languages (macros, javascript, etc.)
