Overview of the Role

MedStar Health is seeking a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of therapy in diverse healthcare settings.

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will engage in critical tasks such as:
  • Conducting thorough evaluations that involve reviewing patient history, performing specific assessments, and formulating treatment recommendations while effectively communicating findings to patients and their families.
  • Implementing treatment protocols based on assessment results and patient needs, while collaborating with other healthcare professionals as necessary. You will also monitor and document any changes in the patient's condition that may require adjustments to the care plan.
  • Ensuring proper discharge planning and follow-up care, including timely and accurate documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Exhibiting strong time management skills to meet productivity goals and maintain an organized schedule, while fostering a patient-centered approach that emphasizes empathy and accessibility.
  • Taking proactive steps in pursuing ongoing professional development and serving as a mentor to new staff and students.

Qualifications Required:
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a clinical fellowship year (CFY).
  • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Maryland, DC, or Virginia as applicable.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
