Position Details:

This role is for a NIGHT SHIFT Structural Metal Assembly Technician.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Layout and assembly of fabricated components in accordance with shop drawings, adhering to AISC and AWS standards.
  • Positioning, aligning, and fitting together fabricated parts of structural metal products in the workshop, based on blueprints and layout specifications, in preparation for welding or riveting.
  • Locating and marking centerlines and reference points onto the floor or face block and transferring them to the workpiece.
  • Moving parts into position, either manually or using a hoist/overhead crane, and preparing them for final assembly.
  • Complying with all company safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Regular attendance and the ability to work overtime are essential.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a certificate from a vocational or trade school in mechanics. The ability to fit various structural steel components, including beams, columns, braces, and simple frames, is necessary.

Applicants must be capable of passing a Class B welding test, which may encompass various welding techniques. Additionally, passing a tape measure test is required.

Physical Requirements:

This position demands the ability to lift over 50 pounds frequently and involves considerable bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, and bending. Candidates should be prepared for exposure to temperature fluctuations and a noisy work environment, with significant overtime and weekend work expected.
