Role Summary

The Production Line Worker I serves as a general laborer tasked with the safe and efficient execution of various labor responsibilities at a glass recycling facility.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None applicable.

Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, the individual must competently perform the following duties, with the understanding that additional tasks may be assigned:

  • Process and categorize materials along a production line, which may involve prolonged standing.
  • Ensure consistent material flow and product quality by conducting routine inspections on optical sorting equipment and screens.
  • Maintain cleanliness in designated areas, including conveyors, sorters, platforms, stairs, screens, and floors.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by site regulations.
  • Comprehend and comply with all operational procedures and safety protocols of the company.
  • Foster a safe working environment by adhering to established processes and procedures (5S).
  • Keep the workspace tidy by disposing of waste and sweeping the floor.
  • Identify potential quality concerns with processed materials and communicate findings to the supervisor.
  • Recognize possible equipment malfunctions and report them to the supervisor.
  • Perform any other related tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility: Bending, standing, walking on various surfaces, sitting at workstations, and climbing may be required.
  • Articulation: Ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds, reach fully, grasp small objects, and perform repetitive movements.
Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment may include exposure to various conditions:

  • Physical elements such as dirt, odors, noise, and extreme weather.
  • Working at heights above 48 inches may necessitate additional safety measures.
  • Dust and fumes may require the use of respiratory protective equipment.
  • Work surfaces may be slippery due to rain or snow, necessitating appropriate footwear.
  • Employees may encounter uneven terrain.
  • High noise levels may require hearing protection.
