Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist II to join our team at Veracity. As a Medical Technologist II, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex analytical procedures, recognizing deviations, and providing interpretation following established standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate instruments and perform procedures within scope of training, utilizing established protocols.

• Perform, record, and maintain accurate quality control records, recognizing out-of-control results and taking appropriate actions.

• Answer inquiries regarding results and factors affecting results, interacting with the healthcare team and maintaining patient confidentiality.

• Perform routine inquiry and data input on the laboratory computer system.

• Instruct new employees and students as required, presenting educational information to employees as requested.

• Process biological specimens for analysis following established procedures, evaluating and solving problems related to specimen collection and processing.

• Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control, complying with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.

• Act as a team leader as assigned, establishing and completing objectives, directing the scheduling and completion of all activities, and instructing, assigning work, and providing guidance to coworkers in the absence of supervisory personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field, or in the final semester of an accredited MT/MLS Bachelor degree program.

• MT/MLS (ASCP) or an appropriate categorical ASCP registry, or eligibility to achieve MT/MLS (ASCP) registry within one year of hire.

• Previous clinical experience and fulfillment of all requisite criteria for Medical Technologist I, unless grandfathered prior to 1987.

Physical and Mental Demands

• Ability to move continuously about the hospital and between workstations, and prolonged periods of standing.

• Ability to understand directions and communicate and respond to inquiries, requiring effective interpersonal skills.

• Ability to tolerate exposure to disease-bearing specimens, odorous chemicals, carcinogens, mutagens, low-level radiation, electrical hazards, and flammable liquids.

• Ability to differentiate colors and occasionally move, lift, and/or carry lightweight materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds up to 5% of the time.
