Fitness Center Manager

The Fitness Center Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission, vision, and values of HealthSource Solutions, LLC. This position requires a thorough understanding of and adherence to all policies and procedures set forth by the organization. The individual will engage directly with fitness center members, including students and faculty, ensuring that their needs and interests are met with utmost responsiveness.

In this role, the Fitness Center Manager is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the fitness center. This includes supervising staff, managing the facility, developing and enforcing policies and procedures, and promoting the services offered by the center.

Work hours may vary, with an expectation of approximately 40 hours per week. Desired availability includes early morning shifts (6-7 am) on 2-3 days and late evening shifts (6-8 pm) on 2-3 days.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in health promotion, kinesiology, exercise physiology, recreation, or a closely related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience is necessary, with a preference for candidates who have worked in higher education settings.
  • Special Knowledge:
  • Ability to lead diverse group exercise classes is essential.
  • Strong technical knowledge in exercise prescription and education is required.
  • A solid understanding of general health topics and worksite health promotion processes is necessary.
  • Proficiency in standard office software, such as MS Office, along with specific fitness center software, is required.
  • Certifications/Licenses:
  • CPR/AED Certification is mandatory.
  • Group Exercise Certification is preferred, such as ACE Group Exercise Instructor or specialty formats like Zumba, Spin, Barre, Yoga, etc.
  • Fitness/Health-Related Certification from a recognized certifying body is preferred, such as ACSM Personal Training, ACE Health Coach, NSCA CSCS, NASM CES, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution of fitness center programs and activities, including coordination of intermural activities.
  • Provide personalized exercise education and coaching to members, including conducting Inbody Assessments.
  • Facilitate group health and fitness educational programs aimed at behavior change.
  • Integrate fitness center initiatives with broader client health programming.
  • Conduct a variety of group fitness classes.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the fitness center and pool, including equipment upkeep and service agreements.
  • Implement member management procedures for the fitness center.
  • Promote the center and represent it positively in all interactions.
  • Supervise health professionals at the fitness center, including Student Lifeguards, Intermural Specialists, and Specialty Group Exercise Instructors.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives for the fitness center.
  • Ensure the safety of fitness center members and the service team.

Position descriptions may be adjusted to meet the evolving needs of HealthSource Solutions, LLC. Additional assignments may be given to align with company or client expectations.

  • Salary Range: $52,000 - $56,000
