POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Nursing Supervisor is a pivotal Nursing Leader who acts as a resource for resolving issues, offers clinical knowledge, mentors and coaches staff, and manages patient flow during off-peak hours (evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays). This role assists in troubleshooting to mitigate clinical challenges and processes within the designated unit. Collaborating closely with the nurse manager, staff, and healthcare providers, the supervisor helps establish care plans for each patient. The supervisor also aids the nurse manager in creating work strategies that help the unit achieve financial, quality, safety, and operational goals. Edna Tina Wilson Living Center, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility, embraces a community-oriented approach to Long Term Care. Its distinctive neighborhood layout places resident rooms around the activity center, living, and dining areas to foster social interaction and engagement.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Per Diem
WORK LOCATION: Edna Tina Wilson Living Center
DEPARTMENT: Long Term Care
SCHEDULE: Off-Peak Hours
KEY ATTRIBUTES
- Graduation from an accredited registered nursing program is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- One to three years of nursing experience is necessary, with preference for Long Term Acute Care (LT PAC) experience.
- One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management: Oversees and ensures adherence to short and long-term Nursing Department staffing schedules according to established guidelines.
- Clinical Assessment: Acts as a clinical resource for staff in problem resolution, assessments, special procedures, and enhancement of clinical skills.
- Admissions: Coordinates with Nursing Staff and admissions department for the swift admission of residents, including necessary evaluations.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
M - Medium Work - Involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
