PACE is a dedicated nonprofit organization established to deliver job training and placement services for the Asian Pacific Islander communities in Los Angeles. Over the years, PACE has broadened its scope to address various service areas tailored to meet the evolving needs of diverse communities in Los Angeles County. Our programs now include business development, early childhood education, financial literacy, housing assistance, and energy conservation initiatives. JOB PURPOSE:

This role involves supporting the Controller and contributing to the accounting team. Responsibilities include grant accounting and reporting, allocation of shared costs, budget formulation, and ensuring adherence to administrative requirements and contractual obligations. The position also entails monitoring cash flow to guarantee adequate funds for various expenditures, performing reconciliations, and ensuring timely posting of month-end and year-end accruals to the general ledger. Additionally, the role requires the preparation of periodic financial statements and grant reports for funding sources.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports, and budgets in a timely manner.
  • Assist with audits and the preparation of annual reports and schedules.
  • Verify, post, and reconcile all transactions in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Manage daily cash flow effectively.
  • Reconcile cash and balance sheet accounts.
  • Support contract audits and corporate audits, including A-133 and SEFA.
  • Complete various tasks and reports as assigned by the Controller.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from an accredited institution, or currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
  • At least one year of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in nonprofit or fund accounting is highly desirable.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination, including drug and alcohol screening.
  • COVID vaccination is required; candidates must have completed the two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. Medical or religious exemptions must be addressed separately.

The working conditions and physical demands of this role require meeting the essential duties effectively.
