The Paperspace division is tasked with developing tools that enable developers to effortlessly create and deploy models for AI applications. Our current offerings include Notebooks, Workflows, and Model Deployments. We are a dynamic team aiming to construct the next generation of AI/ML workflows utilizing DigitalOcean's cloud capabilities.

We are in search of a highly driven, hands-on technical engineering leader to mentor our engineers and cultivate an engineering culture focused on innovation. This individual will play a pivotal role in facilitating career advancement, aligning engineers' efforts with their aspirations and organizational objectives, and providing guidance for personal growth.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Recruiting, managing, and sustaining a top-tier remote engineering team
  • Planning and executing intricate technical initiatives
  • Collaborating with technical leads to contribute to the overall architecture, design, and development of storage solutions
  • Overseeing software project timelines using various lifecycle methodologies
  • Creating processes and tools to enhance team efficiency and quality of life
  • Developing processes and tools to boost product performance and quality
  • Partnering with the product team to ensure successful launches of products and features from requirements gathering through implementation and ongoing operations
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams in infrastructure, operations, support, core services, and systems engineering to design sustainable solutions
  • Supporting team objectives and creating growth opportunities for team members
  • Facilitating open, constructive communication among team members
  • Providing mentorship and guidance through one-on-one meetings and coaching
  • Organizing regular performance evaluations
  • Planning and executing relevant training for the engineering team
What We Expect From You:
  • Proven experience in managing, coaching, and mentoring software engineers
  • Strong interest and experience in development platforms, MLOps, CI/CD, infrastructure, or creating products for technical teams
  • Experience in system, API, and infrastructure design utilizing cloud concepts such as storage volumes, private networks, load balancers, and virtual machines
  • Background in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment, building and scaling internal platforms using Javascript, Typescript, or Go
  • Able to make effective trade-offs regarding engineering and product requirements while balancing immediate and long-term needs
  • Experience in delivering products at scale and on schedule, with a customer-centric focus
  • Experience managing and delivering projects throughout the entire software development lifecycle
  • Experience fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration between engineering, operations, support, and product teams
  • Familiarity with end-to-end quality best practices and their implementation
  • Experience in staffing, interviewing, building, and retaining teams
  • Ability to convey complex concepts in written, verbal, and presentation formats
