Temporary Non-Tenure Track Teaching Positions

The Salish Sea Institute at Western Washington University is seeking qualified individuals to join our faculty pool for temporary non-tenure track teaching positions. As a member of our faculty pool, you will have the opportunity to teach face-to-face undergraduate courses in our SALI core curriculum, including the 'Introduction to the Salish Sea' lecture and lab courses, and/or other Salish Sea themed topics classes.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in the SALI core curriculum and/or other Salish Sea themed topics classes
- Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to engage students and promote learning
- Assess student learning and provide feedback to students
- Participate in departmental and institutional service activities
- Master's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge relating to the Salish Sea's history, ecology, culture, and management complexities
- Demonstrated potential for effective teaching
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse students, faculty and staff, and to cultivating learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds
- Ph.D. in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience in higher education
- Knowledge and use of learning management systems, such as Canvas
- Current scholarly/community engagement relating to the Salish Sea's history, ecology, culture, and management complexities
