Job Overview and Responsibilities

Under the direct oversight of the SSM I, Regional Human Resources Office (RHRO), the incumbent acts as the primary connection between the institution's healthcare administration, personnel, and the RHRO. This role is essential in delivering outstanding customer service while addressing various HR-related matters and responsibilities associated with personnel actions, including Classification and Pay (C&P), Expedited Hiring Process (EHP), employee benefits, and compensation, along with providing effective problem-solving solutions. A comprehensive understanding of HR principles related to State Civil Service, departmental regulations, policies, and procedures is required.

In collaboration with the SSM I, the incumbent will be accountable for sound daily decision-making in managing the court-mandated Selection Services and C&P processes for healthcare roles. There may be a need to cover for absences within the region, and travel to the RHRO and HR Headquarters for training sessions is expected. Overtime may be necessary.

Essential Qualifications

SSA:

Candidates must meet one of the following educational criteria:
- Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. (Candidates who are seniors may apply but must provide proof of graduation before being considered for appointment.)
- Alternatively, work experience within the California state service may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis, provided the applicant has at least six semester or nine quarter units of college-level coursework in public or business administration, accounting, economics, political or social science, English, speech, statistics, law, or a closely related field.

AGPA:
Experience in the California state service must include at least one year in a role with responsibilities equivalent to the promotional class. Educational requirements must be equivalent to graduation from college. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)
Experience Requirements:
- One year of experience performing duties as a Staff Services Analyst, Range C, or
- Three years of professional analytical experience in areas such as budgeting, management analysis, personnel, planning, program evaluation, or policy analysis. (One year of graduate study in public or business administration, industrial relations, psychology, law, political science, or a related field may substitute for six months of the required non-supervisory experience.)

New candidates to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation or the Division of Juvenile Justice must undergo a background investigation process, including Live Scan Fingerprinting and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment, followed by annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
