Role Responsibilities

The Pediatric Echocardiography Specialist is responsible for conducting echocardiogram assessments on both inpatient and outpatient populations, utilizing age-appropriate techniques. This role includes availability for on-call duties to address urgent testing needs.

Key Duties Include:

  • Serve as a vital resource for the interdisciplinary team during emergency situations involving patients.
  • Execute 2-D, M-mode, Doppler color flow, and stress echocardiography in accordance with established protocols.
  • Analyze and present preliminary findings, providing detailed reports as necessary.
  • Adjust testing protocols based on patient diagnosis or indications, considering the complexity of cardiac conditions.
  • Conduct echocardiographic studies efficiently for both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Manage image selection and archiving using departmental equipment.
  • Deliver age-appropriate assessments and interventions to meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Identify and communicate clinically significant results to referring physicians and cardiologists.
  • Evaluate requests to determine the appropriate setting for studies (inpatient vs. outpatient).
  • Utilize techniques to obtain necessary views tailored to the patient's age, size, and specific medical conditions.

Compensation

Salary range: $65.74 per hour

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Pediatric sonography is required.
  • Proficient in performing scans that accurately depict all necessary views for age-appropriate diagnostic requirements.
  • Ability to recognize critical diagnostic information that necessitates immediate attention and effectively communicate with relevant parties.
  • Capability to maneuver heavy equipment for portable studies.
  • Commitment to infection control protocols related to equipment usage.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to provide and receive direction effectively.
