Role Summary:

The Echocardiography Specialist is responsible for executing diagnostic cardiac imaging procedures to evaluate cardiac anatomy and blood flow dynamics, adhering to established standards of practice and the organizational mission. This role demands proficiency in performing a variety of echocardiography techniques with a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct transesophageal echocardiograms, both standard and three-dimensional.
  • Perform intraoperative transesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Assist in structural heart interventions within the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
  • Execute complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms.

Additionally, the specialist may be tasked with training new staff and executing specific procedures as needed.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION:

  • Graduation from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

For Level I or II:

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or ARDMS certification (RDCS AE for adults or RDCS PE for pediatrics).
  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.

For Level III:

  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Two of the following certifications:
  • RCS (CCI), ACS (CCI), ARDMS RDCS(AE), ARDMS RDCS(PE), ARDMS RDCS(FE), ARDMS RVT.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Level I: No prior experience required.
  • Level II: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Level III: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Solid understanding of cardiac sonography principles and procedures, including equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to perform cardiac examinations with a comprehensive grasp of human anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Effective communication skills to relay sensitive information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare information systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and healthcare professionals.

Work Schedule:

Days, Part-Time, with rotating weekend requirements.
