Position Overview:

**Sign-On Bonus of $5,000.00 available for qualifying external candidates in accordance with Sutter Health Policy**

The role involves proficiently executing diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations to evaluate cardiac structures and hemodynamics, adhering to the relevant scope and standards of practice, as well as the policies, values, and mission of the organization. The incumbent will be responsible for all standard echocardiography procedures within the department, demonstrating a high level of expertise.

In addition to the responsibilities of Level I, the following procedures may also be performed:
- Transesophageal echocardiograms with or without three-dimensional imaging
- Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiograms
- Structural Heart Procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab
- Complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms

Additional responsibilities may include performing specific procedures and/or orienting other staff members to the department.

EDUCATION

  • Graduation from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

Level I or II:
  • RCS (CCI)-Registered Cardiac Sonographer OR ARDMS (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric)
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
Level III
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
Two of the following:
  • RCS (CCI)-Registered Cardiac Sonographer
  • ACS (CCI) - Advanced Cardiac Sonographer
  • ARDMS - RDCS(AE) - Adult
  • ARDMS - RDCS(PE) - Pediatric
  • ARDMS - RDCS(FE) - Fetal
  • ARDMS - RVT - Registered Vascular Technologist
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
  • Level I - No prior experience necessary.
  • Level II - Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Level III - Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE (will vary by level)
  • Intermediate understanding of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles, procedures, and views, along with the operation and maintenance of imaging equipment, including experience in responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies.
  • Proficient in conducting cardiac sonographic examinations with a solid grasp of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology to recognize, prioritize, and communicate concerning suspicious or abnormal results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical individuals.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work within established policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Capability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a team, while managing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of each patient's PHI.
  • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

Pay Range is $52.14 to $65.17 / hour. Cardiac Sonographer II Pay Range is $54.74 to $68.41 / hour. Cardiac Sonographer III Pay Range is $60.36 to $75.44 / hour.

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
