POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Marine Electrical Operations Supervisor will lead a dedicated team of electricians engaged in new marine construction projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees a team of electricians, providing input on hiring, daily guidance, corrective measures, and performance assessments.
- Directs the daily operations of the electrical crew, assigning tasks to meet production targets effectively; fosters a collaborative team environment; offers expertise in various machining techniques; mentors team members and implements corrective actions as needed.
- Ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations within the craft and shipyard.
- Interprets and comprehends work specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
- Manages the connection and disconnection of all electrical systems aboard the vessel.
- Installs cables while ensuring proper radiuses and crossovers.
- Diagnoses issues with basic motor starters, electrical circuits, and associated equipment.
- Performs duties as both a maintenance and construction electrician.
- Handles the installation and fabrication of packing tubes, multiple cable transits, collars, conduits, and raceways.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience as a Marine Electrician in a shipyard setting or a current Plant Journey-level license from any state.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Demonstrated skills, work history, and/or relevant education may be considered in lieu of experience.
- Effective communication skills, capable of working independently or collaboratively.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Fundamental knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory.
- Skilled in the use of voltage testers, multimeters, and megger devices.
- Understanding of power generation, control, and distribution systems.
- Familiarity with electric motors and control systems.
- Indoor work: Frequently operates within a ship or workshop environment.
- Outdoor work: Regularly exposed to typical weather conditions while working in a shipyard setting.
- Required safety equipment: Hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, long-sleeved shirts, and appropriate footwear.
- Potential exposures: May encounter smoke, acids, oils, grease, free silica, asbestos dust, paint, solvents, and electrical hazards.
- Equipment usage: Proficient in the operation of hand and power tools, as well as electrical testing equipment.
- Hygiene standards: Adheres to company hygiene policies.
