Job Title: Marine Engineer

At Foss Maritime, we are seeking a highly skilled Marine Engineer to join our team. As a Marine Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, preservation, operation, and readiness of the ship's propulsion machinery, mechanical and electrical systems, and damage control equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair engines, pumps, machinery, deck machinery, and electrical components
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of engineering spaces
  • Ensure proper maintenance of onboard alarms and safety systems
  • Supervise and train junior engineers on maintenance procedures
  • Perform all Vessel Maintenance System - Engine Room inspections
Requirements:
  • Valid USCG MMC
  • Assistant Engineer - Oceans, Any HP, Limited GRT/3000 ITC License (may sub 3a/e, 2a/e, or 1a/e Motor License)
  • Valid STCW with all required endorsements (including, but not limited to Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch, Advanced Firefighting, and Medical Care Provider)
  • Lifeboatman Endorsement
  • Valid TWIC
  • Valid Passport - must be able to travel internationally with no restrictions
  • CPR/First Aid
Working Conditions:

Works in engine room in hot, wet, humid, noisy, and odorous conditions. Occasionally exposed to paints, solvents, thinners, and fumes.

Physical/Mental Demands:

Sits to complete engineer logs and reports. Balances continuously on vessel in various sea and weather conditions. Kneels, crouches, and crawls to pick up tools and perform checks, repairs, and general maintenance of machinery. Twists and reaches around equipment to perform checks and repairs. Stands/walks while performing engine checks and repairs. Handles/fingers hand tools, hand-held power tools, and parts. Eye-Hand-Foot Coordination: Coordinates movements to perform engineer and general maintenance duties. Vision: 20/40 correctable vision in each eye to work with equipment and machinery. Color vision is required to distinguish color-coded systems and liquid chemicals. Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying (up to 50 pounds): Pushes, pulls, lifts, and carries machinery up to 50 pounds.
