Key Responsibilities:

The Fleet Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing a team of 30-35 drivers. This leadership position is responsible for the daily management of the assigned driver fleet, ensuring optimal performance in service, safety, utilization, and retention. Building and maintaining positive relationships with employees is essential. Regular performance evaluations will be conducted to address any areas needing improvement.

Core Job Functions:

  • Oversee driver performance by establishing clear expectations, conducting frequent reviews, and implementing necessary corrective actions, including termination when warranted.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with regulations for all drivers, executing corrective action plans for those not meeting performance goals.
  • Resolve issues and concerns raised by assigned drivers.
  • Focus on driver retention strategies.
  • Guarantee compliance with FMCSA regulations, including hours of service, random drug testing, and proper licensing.
  • Provide training and mentorship to drivers, focusing on effective use of tools and systems.
  • Manage driver schedules, including time off, holiday pay, and vacation planning.
  • Address payroll discrepancies for drivers, authorizing additional pay when appropriate.
  • Enhance driver utilization to meet targeted productivity levels, collaborating with load planners.
  • Ensure drivers execute their assigned tasks effectively.
  • Enforce adherence to company policies and the Code of Conduct.
  • Foster a culture of trust and teamwork, valuing contributions from all employees.
  • Assist in load planning, including re-planning and recovery efforts.
  • Work diligently until all driver issues are resolved for the day.
  • Monitor delivery and pickup operations for service failures, proactively communicating with load planning and carrier management.

Qualifications:

  • 0-1 years of relevant experience in a Driver Manager or Fleet Manager role.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive individual.

Compensation: $40,000 - $66,000 annual base salary

This salary range is an estimate based on various factors, including skills, experience, education, market conditions, and geographical location.
