About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Technical Area Director to lead our Microelectronics Science and Technology portfolio. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of our microelectronics research and development efforts, ensuring alignment with our business objectives and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive portfolio strategy to grow our externally-funded R&D pipeline and transition maturing technologies to production.
  • Lead a team of Technology Group Leads, each responsible for their own technology thrusts within the portfolio.
  • Mentor and grow junior technology development managers and scientists.
  • Expand and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, external companies, and other BAE Systems groups and business areas.
  • Collaborate with staff across our business areas and facilities in the Northeast to drive innovation and growth.
Requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience presenting technical research to large and diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead a diverse, complex organization across multiple sites to solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience leading the proposal, capture, and execution of large complex projects within the defense microelectronics community, at the cutting edge of technology.
  • Demonstrable entrepreneurial drive.
  • Demonstrated collaboration across organizations to achieve objectives.
  • Experience developing and executing all facets of a portfolio strategy.
  • Understanding of cutting-edge microelectronics technology, including technical trends across the research community and DoD's microelectronics science and technology customer base.
  • Understanding of BAE Systems' electronics markets and customers.
  • Proven performance in management, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Ability to obtain clearance at the DoD Top Secret / SCI level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Top Secret / SCI Clearance.
  • Masters or PhD in electrical engineering or related field.
