Position Overview: The Chicago Operations Lead is a pivotal role within Bird's Operations Team. This position involves collaborating with regional Operations leadership to oversee our business operations in the Chicago area, including full P&L accountability, vendor and stakeholder relationship management, and the execution of key strategic initiatives. We seek a strategic thinker who can navigate both high-level concepts and intricate details to ensure alignment between strategy, execution, and outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset, strong strategic capabilities, exceptional time management, and effective communication skills to gain stakeholder buy-in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the comprehensive operation of the designated portfolio, supported by the Operations leadership team.
  • Monitor and enhance operational performance and efficiency by tracking critical metrics related to operations, ridership, supply, and demand.
  • Utilize data analytics to refine processes, creatively address challenges, and measure outcomes.
  • Act as the primary representative for Bird, addressing operational issues with stakeholders, including city officials, vendors, and other third parties.
  • Drive continuous growth through local campaigns and initiatives aimed at increasing market share.
  • Manage operational costs with a focus on profitability and maintaining positive margins.
  • Develop a highly efficient and motivated operations team, overseeing daily activities, coordination, and training of operational staff.
  • Employ problem-solving skills to prioritize tasks and navigate obstacles effectively.
  • Collaborate and communicate across the organization to ensure timely resolutions, quality control, and process feedback.
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative, working independently to launch projects.
  • Contribute to fostering a fun, inclusive, and safe workplace culture at Bird.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, with at least 1 year in a team management role.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and driven individual capable of learning new skills and managing a team effectively.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to engage with senior leaders and inspire team members.
  • Proficient in building networks and liaising with external partners and city stakeholders.
  • Excellent data management skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Experience in solving complex problems, exercising sound judgment, and navigating ambiguous situations.
  • Adept at simplifying complex issues into actionable tasks.
  • Data-driven mindset with a keen attention to detail and a passion for process improvement.
  • Comfortable with learning and adapting to new concepts and tools.
