Bilingual Housing Counselor

The United Community Center is seeking a skilled Bilingual Housing Counselor to join our Neighborhood Development Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping Milwaukee area residents achieve their goal of homeownership.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist area residents in home-buying efforts through financial and mortgage counseling to improve property condition and increase personal home ownership in the community.
- Investigate area residents' concerns and complaints, and provide referrals or personal contact with city or county agencies.
- Establish strong working relationships with banks and mortgage institutions to provide services to area residents.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate seminars on issues of finance, mortgage, home improvement, and other relevant topics.
- Cooperate with local law enforcement to establish a good line of communication and support community neighborhood watch programs.
- Keep track of information needed for funding sources and ensure accurate reports and information are provided on a timely basis.
- Serve on community development program committees, task forces, and workgroups, and oversee the agency's participation in community development and improvement initiatives and activities.
- Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university with a background in Marketing or Finance, or at least 5 years of experience in the areas of banking, mortgages, finance, or home buying.
- Must be bilingual in Spanish, with the ability to speak, write, and read in Spanish.
- HUD Certified Counselor preferred.
The majority of work takes place in an office setting with a low to moderate noise level. Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend, and go up the occasional stairs. Reasonable accommodations can be provided to ensure all duties can be performed satisfactorily.
