Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Safety Engineer to join our team at Raytheon. As a key member of our Life Cycle Engineering group, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our software systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze software and firmware to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code
  • Work with program management and government approval authorities to gain concurrence with software builds
  • Perform software and firmware analyses to identify potential safety risks
  • Develop and implement safety programs to mitigate risks and ensure compliance
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on software safety best practices
  • Interface with stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Prepare safety assessment reports and safety program briefs for customer approval
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant software engineering or safety engineering experience
  • Experience with system safety engineering, system engineering, software or firmware engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent safety engineering
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DoD software safety programs
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills
  • Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
