Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare medications and provide pharmacological insights to interdisciplinary healthcare teams while overseeing patient medication therapies.
  • Assist the pharmacy team in medication preparation by interpreting physician orders, measuring, and mixing ingredients, while identifying any therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Dispense medications by establishing and maintaining procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, adhering to legal and policy standards to ensure quality and security.
  • Evaluate the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
  • Maintain comprehensive records, including pharmacy files, patient profiles, and inventories of controlled substances.
  • Monitor medication therapies and provide necessary interventions.
  • Oversee pharmacy operations by organizing technician workflows and verifying the accuracy of medication preparation and labeling.
  • Manage workflow processes, including pharmacist verification, quality assurance, and delivery checks.
  • Utilize computer systems to screen for potential drug interactions and ensure patient safety.
  • Provide pharmacological information to healthcare professionals and counsel patients on their medication therapies.
  • Enhance the pharmacological knowledge of staff through participation in clinical programs and training initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal drug laws, maintaining records for controlled substances and adhering to disposal guidelines.
  • Protect patients and staff by following infection control protocols.
  • Minimal travel may be required.

  • Maintain all required licenses and certifications in good standing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Licenses/Certifications:

  • North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX)
  • Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE)
  • State-specific license as required

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a pharmacy environment is preferred, particularly in healthcare, senior living, or long-term care settings.
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite.
