The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Art History, developing a research agenda, and contributing to the department's initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Art History, including surveys and advanced topics
  • Develop and maintain a research agenda, with a focus on African American or African Diasporic Art History
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives, including the integration of the Amos Hall collection into courses and student learning outcomes
  • Develop relationships with regional art institutions, including the Barnes Foundation
  • Take the lead in developing the writing proficiency of Visual Arts majors
  • Foster professional development opportunities at museums and cultural organizations
  • Maintain active professional engagement and research
  • Actively engage in the assessment of Visual Art Student Learning Outcomes

Requirements:

  • PhD in Art History, preferably with a focus on African American/African Diaspora Art, completed by the time of hire
  • 3+ years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level
  • Proven research and professional engagement agenda
  • Effective communication and teaching skills
  • Experience in course design and development, assessment of curriculum and student learning outcomes, and departmental committee engagement
