Art Historian

Lincoln University seeks a dynamic and experienced Art Historian to join its Visual Art Department as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Art History, developing a research agenda, and contributing to departmental initiatives.

• Teach courses in Art History, including surveys and advanced topics
• Develop and maintain a research agenda, with a focus on African American or African Diasporic Art History
• Integrate the university's extensive collection of African Art and Material Culture into courses and support students in developing hands-on relationships with historical materials and museum practices
• Develop relationships with regional art institutions and promote education and appreciation of the fine arts
• Contribute to departmental and university initiatives, advise students, and recruit students to the Visual Arts program

• PhD in Art History, preferably with a focus on African American/African Diaspora Art, completed by the time of hire
• 3+ years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level
• Proven research and professional engagement agenda
• Effective communication and teaching skills, with the ability to motivate students from diverse backgrounds
• Experience in course design and development, assessment of curriculum and student learning outcomes, and departmental committee engagement
