Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of Public Engagement (SVPPE) is responsible for leading Zufall Health's outward-facing initiatives in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This role encompasses strategic oversight of communications, advocacy, governmental relations, grant writing, fundraising, and community outreach.

Mission of the Zufall Health Foundation

The Zufall Health Foundation is dedicated to providing financial and volunteer support to enhance the services offered by Zufall Health. Through effective relationship building and partnership cultivation, the Foundation aims to secure resources that bolster community health services and ensure the sustainability of the health center.

Key Responsibilities

In partnership with the CEO, senior leadership, and the Foundation Board, the SVPPE will:

1. Serve as the external representative for Zufall, engaging with decision-makers, funders, elected officials, and community partners to promote the organization’s strategic initiatives.

2. Collaboratively define, implement, and operationalize Zufall's strategic mission and objectives to drive programmatic and organizational growth.

3. Maximize innovation and impact by fostering diverse support while adhering to the expectations of funders and donors.

4. Oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to elevate the organization’s profile among current and prospective audiences.

5. Design and manage multifaceted fundraising strategies targeting individuals, institutions, corporations, foundations, and government entities across a broad service area.

6. Build and nurture relationships with key governmental stakeholders, initiating discussions on critical policy issues affecting community health centers.

7. Lead the Outreach team to ensure alignment with organizational goals and coherence in messaging.

8. Supervise a collaborative team comprising Communications, Grants, Development, and Outreach/Community Engagement professionals.

9. Cultivate strong relationships with Foundation Trustees, facilitating recruitment and Board meetings.

10. Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the CEO.

Qualifications

- Knowledge of community health and public health, with a preference for clinical experience.

- Familiarity with advocacy and health policy is advantageous.

- Proficiency in donor database systems is required.

- High energy, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal oversight.

- Exceptional public speaking and writing skills, along with strong time management and organizational capabilities.

- Ability to learn and apply trauma-informed care principles relevant to the role.

Education and Experience

- A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.

- A minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience in leading and managing teams is essential.

- Experience in external affairs, communications, fundraising, or related fields, ideally within the healthcare or nonprofit sectors.

- Proven success in developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies to enhance organizational visibility and stakeholder engagement.

- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, government officials, and community partners to support organizational goals.
