**Job Summary**

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join our Special Investigations and Actual Innocence Unit as an Assistant Attorney General. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex and high-profile cases, utilizing your expertise in criminal law and litigation to make a meaningful impact.

**Key Responsibilities**

• Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify potential cases of actual innocence and develop strategies for investigation and prosecution.

• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to gather evidence and build cases.

• Prepare and present oral arguments and written briefs in the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Virginia.

• Conduct evidentiary hearings and assist with ongoing criminal investigations and prosecutions as needed.

• Provide expert advice and guidance to the Section Chief and other team members on complex legal issues.

• Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and court decisions to ensure compliance and best practices.

**Requirements**

• Admittance to the Virginia Bar is required.

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in trial or appellate courts, with a strong background in criminal law and litigation.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write clear and concise briefs and present complex information to judges and juries.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
