Job Summary

The Health Information Clerk (HIC) plays a vital role in processing information into patient health records, working under general supervision to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medical Record Processing: Prepare, scan, index, and quality-check medical records and documents.
  • Departmental Support: Float between departments and travel offsite within the physicians group as needed.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer skills, data entry, and typing abilities, as well as knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Communication: Safeguard patient confidentiality and maintain a safe patient environment.
  • Quality Control: Perform quality checks on scanned records and documents, ensuring accuracy and legibility.
  • Administrative Tasks: Sort incoming mail, scan/index documents, and maintain control of records using the log-in/log-out system.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent with two years of experience in an office setting, or a college degree with no experience.
  • Experience: Previous medical records department or medical office experience, including knowledge of medical terminology.
