Compensation: The pay rate for this position is $21.40 per hour, with the potential for quarterly bonuses.

Work Environment: This role is based at our facility in Lexington, VA, and involves working five 8-hour shifts per week. Shifts may include:

  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Monday - Friday)
  • 2nd shift: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Monday - Friday)
  • 3rd shift: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM (Sunday - Thursday)
  • Occasional Saturday shifts

Shifts will rotate quarterly, encompassing morning, evening, and overnight hours, with pay differentials for evening and overnight shifts.

Role Summary: The Brewing Production Specialist operates our advanced 120-barrel automated brewing systems. Responsibilities include milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, hop additions, whirlpool, and wort cooling. The role also involves pre- and post-cleaning and sanitation of all transfer lines and vessels, as well as cellar tasks such as yeast pitching, filtration, beer transfers, tank clean-in-place (CIP), and maintenance of equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the brewing team to meet quality and production goals.
  • Complete tasks according to company standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and quality management of raw materials and chemicals.
  • Handle hazardous chemicals safely.
  • Document daily production records in compliance with company and federal regulations.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of all beer production areas.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with equipment upkeep and repairs.
  • Follow cleaning schedules to maintain a hygienic work environment.
  • Participate in production meetings and contribute to product enhancements.
  • Operate and monitor computerized brewing systems.
  • Represent the company at beer festivals as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: Two years of brewing experience as an assistant brewer or brewer.
  • Preferred: Brewing education or certification.
  • Familiarity with brewing practices, methods, tools, and equipment.
  • Understanding of safety precautions in a production environment.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and schematics.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Physical requirements include frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work with a fitted face respirator.
  • Proficient in using hand tools and equipment.
  • Ability to operate a forklift (training provided).
  • Regular interaction with production staff and management.
